Hi Everyone,
When we look west out our bedroom window, we see a young sugar maple about 30 feet tall. I love watching this tree change through the seasons. Through the summer itβs a shock of green leaves standing tall at the curbside. As the summer turns to August, the leaves start to yellow signaling that Fall is coming. As the Summer turns to Fall the leave turn bright red, then brown, usually not falling until blustery winds blow them free.
Fall has come to Portland. So far, most of the weather has been mild this year. But Fall brings its own beauty.
Portland has trees β everywhere. I mean everywhere: street sides, parks and every yard. So, Fall is another blooming season, but this time flat on the ground. The trees start gently turning colors. Just a dab here and there. Then there is the second indicator of Fall in Portland β Rain.
After more than a few leaves have dabbled in orange, yellow or deepest of reds, there will be the opening volley rainstorm. The rainstorm of rainstorm (at least for the last month or so.)
It happens. All at once, the leaves on every tree on a street will be released, communally, during the storm. All together they will take a huge leap of faith β Grass or Sidewalk?

West Coast Fire Relief β 11 More Days
New fires are being reported in Colorado. Our focus is on the fires in California, Oregon, and Washington state, but these new fires only emphasize that climate change is having affects all over our country
The Cameron Peak Fire, which began on Aug. 13, is the largest recorded wildfire in Colorado's history, according to the Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center. The fire, located west of Fort Collins, had burned 203,253 acres and was 62% contained as of Sunday afternoon, according to fire officials and the U.S. Forest Service.
You can read the rest of the article here. The fires have left entire communities devastated. Even as the communities in west coast states are struggling to rebuild their lives, new fires are still threatening. We can help them together. Thank you for helping out.
