Hi Everyone,
This weekend we had our first real Fall rain. Although Fall has been in the air for the last few weeks, the weather has been mostly mild to warm with very little rain. Saturday it rained with more on Sunday. I’m already longing for the peak days of the summer. The carefree time of a warm summer evening on the deck.
Which brings me to our new image this week, Summer Winds to Dance With, a beautiful Sunflower, set against clear blue sky to remind us all that summer will come again.
I love sunflowers. Everything Sunflower. Everything. Every one of Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers. The sunflower named “Moulin Rouge, with it’s gorgeous brown velvet petals.” I can spend hours watching the squirrels, hang suspended from the gargantuan face of the “Russian Mammoth.” But somehow this set of “green thumbs” can’t get them going in our new garden. So, I am totally dependent on our neighbors’ successes with sunflower seeds.
Boy are there some great successes around here.
The story of this image is fun and whimsical. I know you’ll enjoy it as much as I did. Read the whole story of Summer Winds to Dance With at Cynthia Yolland — Slices of Beauty.
Help Us Help: Relief for West Coast Fires
We continue to donate 30% of our proceeds after expenses to support relief efforts for those effected by the West Coast Fires. This week I want to focus on how the fires are compounding the housing crisis.
When the CZU Lightning Complex fires ripped through the Santa Cruz Mountains six weeks ago, Bradford, her husband and five children were suddenly homeless — along with thousands of others. …
The sudden need for housing was worsened by the pandemic limiting shelter capacity. Complicating it further was that … {Santa Cruz County, CA] had never dealt with a fire on this scale.
You can read the rest of the article here. The fires have devastated entire communities in Oregon and Washington and in California nearly 1,000 homes in Santa Cruz county alone with hundreds more in other parts of the state. We can help them together. Thank you for help out.
