Morning Light | Original Floral Fine Art Note Cards

This painting was created in a season when every sunrise was a question.

At its center stands an intense purple tulip, not yet opened, gathered into itself with quiet resolve. The colors are rich and saturated — a royal violet layered with shading so the petals seem almost sculpted by light. Though closed, the bloom is anything but small. It is the presence. It holds promise. The leaves nearly shine, catching the light with a soft radiance, a moment of resilience. There is a living vitality that frames the unopened flower without overpowering it.

The background moves gently from the darkness into brilliance, shading from deep shadow into a tender glow. In the farthest corner, the morning light breaks through. Not overwhelming the canvas; it beckons. It reminds. It waits.

I painted Morning Light while caring for my father during his journey with dementia. Each day was its own landscape. Would he recognize the rhythm of his own life? Or would the moment slip quietly beyond reach?

Living in that uncertainty taught me to honor beginnings.

The unopened tulip became my symbol of that fragile hope. It stands in the light even before it fully blooms. Its potential is that powerful — simply turning toward the light is an act of courage.

As a daughter, a caregiver, and a woman who understands both the endurance and grace, I painted this as a declaration:

Every morning is a new opportunity
Every day holds the possibility of unfolding
And even in seasons of shadow, the light is already arriving.
