Deepest Desires

This painting was born of deep joy — the kind that hums quietly beneath ordinary days and makes them golden.

At its heart blooms a yellow rose, luminous and alive, its petals touched with vivid orange highlights that hold sunlight within them. The colors are apologetically intense — radiant yellows unfolding into warm amber and flame — as if the flower itself is breathing warmth into the world. Each petal curves inward and outward in a graceful rhythm, gathering at the center in the unmistakable shape of a heart.

That heart was no accident.

I painted this rose while I was a full-time caregiver to my grandson — in a time when my days were full, my hands were busy, and my spirit was stretched in the most beautiful ways. Between lullabies, laughter, and wonder, I found myself overflowing with gratitude. This rose contains this joy and wonder.

Yellow for joy.
Orange for vitality.
A heart at the center for love that anchors everything.

As a grandmother — and as a woman who has learned to create beauty through strength and limitation — I see flowers as portraits of resilience. They reach toward the light no matter the weather. This rose is no different. It carries the glow of devotion, the spark of delight, and the fierce tenderness that lives in care giving love.

It is not just a bloom.

It is a season of wonder, captured in one blossom.
