Color Meditation is an original figurative oil pastel painting of a seated female figure — poised in quiet contemplation, reminiscent of The Thinker, yet entirely her own woman. She is grounded. Reflective. Powerful. And rendered in unapologetically brilliant, saturated color.

Created at the turning point of a recovery from illness, this work carries all the energies of rebirth — that electric moment when the body is still healing, but the spirit is already running ahead. I didn’t ease back into painting. I wanted to burst into it.

And she does too.

She is executed in vivid, high-chroma oil pastels — radiant blues, defiant reds, alive-with-intention yellows. The brightest hues I could reach for. Every beautiful and energetically bright color I could find. Because after illness, subtlety felt dishonest. I wanted to drink in every color.

She sits contemplatively. But the colors are not. This is the moment just before a beautiful flower blooms. This is the wonder of garden shoots suddenly appearing. She is so full of energy, it is spilling off the canvas.

Colors understand resilience.
And refuses beige.
