Explosion of Love
Tulips are so confident. They are not demure, like a crocus. Tulips jump out at Spring and shout their joy at all who pass.
In an area that LOVES flowers, tulips are everywhere. Every street and every yard. Every color and every shade. There is a tulip festival not too far away and their influence shows. It is an amazing time for me. To go from the dearth of color that is December, January and February, to the explosive awakening that is April. Worthy of a Dance.
But they are actually challenging to photograph. The depths of the bloom make focusing a challenge. The simple petal structure makes close up work challenging. So, my work is cut out for me during April and May. By the end of May, it can be a little overwhelming. All the color patches start blending together. The tulips are growing old and dropping petals. Truly, I start longing for other flowers.
So, with the backdrop of tulip-tiredness, walking on a neighborhood street, I was dumbfounded. Quietly, in the shadow of a large tree were a few newly blossomed tulips. In these amazing colors. With stripes and everything. The sun was just perfect, midmorning “in your face”, making definite shadows to counter the stripes. An obvious joy of life exuded from these small blossoms. Their confidence was palpable. They shouted, “We are not done.”
The experience of 5 inches of joy shouting to everyone and everywhere that “Spring is Here.” Pay attention. Pay homage. It was overwhelming
Can you tell I love flowers? And I love sharing them with you.
