I hunt for red roses, on the bush. There are lots, but the red rose seems very affected by weather. Too hot and the edges burn and the buds curl. Too cold and they shrivel and mold.

So, when I find a perfect whorl, in a red rose, it is a celebration. On the spot. A required Happy Dance.

Why?

Because, the fact that these beautiful flowers have so many meanings does not make them important. They are important and have meanings, because they survive. They not only survive, but they do it with captivating beauty and charm.

So, what is the important stuff of a rose that we should focus on?

Sharing: the love, the joy, the flower.

I was so blessed to have found this amazing beauty, on a day when finding the meaning of life was the last thing on my mind. Finding a bathroom and the diaper bag were much higher on my list. I am so glad I took the few seconds to focus beyond the absolute bareness of the moment and remember that I too am a survivor. I too can share joy and wonder.  That is stopping and smelling the roses. That is the focus.

Of course, after my short moment of reverie, my sinuses drew me back to reality and the drastic need for a diaper change. Sometimes a moment of focus is all it takes. Share some love today.
